What to wear when traveling to St Lucia + Other Essentials

what to wear in St Lucia

Packing can always be one of the most stressful parts of taking a holiday away. So whether you over-pack or always forget something, we’ve put a list of the essentials to put in your suitcase before traveling to St Lucia.

Before we get started, we want you to give our Facebook page a quick like and be sure to follow us on Instagram for some amazing inspiration.

The  documents

Passport, Boarding passes and any other important paperwork you need to actually get on your flight come first and foremost. There’s nothing worse than getting all excited arriving at the airport and realizing you’ve left your passport or tickets on the kitchen table. Also if you need to take any prescription medicines with you on your trip, make sure you have a doctor’s note or prescription slip to hand over when going through security.

Clothing

Day Wear – St. Lucia’s average temperature in its coldest month of January is 79℉ or 25 degrees C, so make sure that you pack clothes that don’t draw in too much heat and are also comfortable to wear. Think linen shorts and cotton t-shirts to keep as cool and comfortable as possible when you are exploring the Island.

Swim Wear – You will not want to forget your bathing suits when traveling to St. Lucia. There are many great beaches all across the Island and lot of them have water sporting activities you can join in on or even if you’re just relaxing in the sun, you will want to have at least one bathing suit in your suitcase. Also, you will want to bring something like a sarong wrap or oversized t-shirt for when you want to look around the local markets after visiting the beach. Flip-flops, sunglasses and of course sun-cream are essentials you should think about taking with you too.

Formal Wear – When the sun sets you’ll want to change into something more formal if you are visiting the local restaurants. Think about packing a couple day dresses matched with a nice pair of flats as well as a party dress for dancing the night away in. Men, you should pack a collared shirt paired with a set of loafers to complete your formal wear.

Just in case – There are times when the sun leaves and the rain comes in so pack an extra sweater or raincoat so you can keep exploring the Island whilst keeping warm and dry.

Packing Tip – Try to pack clothes that are of a similar style or color scheme, that way you can save space in your luggage with interchangeable outfits that work together, but allow you to have a fresh look every day.

Toiletries

A lot of the hotels will provide shampoo, conditioner, and soap but if you have a personal brand you like, pack travel sized bottles for your stay. Make sure to bring your toothbrush and toothpaste too for your trip. Also insect repellent is a must have to avoid being swarmed by mosquitoes and other little beasties so make some space for that too if you don’t want to get bitten.

Extras

Apart from the essential items above that you need when traveling to St Lucia, you’ll want to think about bringing along an mp3 player or a paperback book to keep yourself entertained whilst chilling out at the beach or in front of the pool. Bring along charging cables for any devices you bring with you as well and you will need an adaptor as the outlets are different in St. Lucia to those in the US. You will also want to bring a camera with you, whether that’s just your mobile camera or a dedicated DSLR camera, to make sure you capture your visit to this exquisite beauty.

Thanks for all the tips on what to wear when traveling to Saint Lucia, especially when you explain that you’ll want to change into something formal for the local restaurants. My wife and I would like to go on a fun vacation. We’ll have to look into dresses and things to wear when visiting Saint Lucia.
