Chris’s Week in the Sun

Why did you choose St. Lucia as the destination of your choice?

My partner and I had a last minute week off work and we were looking for relaxing hot places to go. A deal came up for St. Lucia and we have always wanted to go to the Caribbean so we thought why not. Plus St. Lucia has always had the reputation of being one of the more beautiful islands in the Caribbean.

Where did you stay and how did you enjoy it?

We stayed at The Royalton St. Lucia in Smugglers Cove. Absolutely loved it, a lovely resort where nothing was to much trouble. Lovely staff, beautiful resort, and lots of choice within the restaurants. The pool areas were very clean and well presented and the beach was beautiful.

What was your favorite thing about the island?

I have got to be honest here, my favorite thing was the Rum ;-). It the weather and the white sand beaches – beauty everywhere we looked.

What did you learn about the culture and the people of St Lucia?

From what we experienced it was the relaxed atmosphere of the island and the local people.

What were the best places that you visited while in St Lucia?

Seeing the Pitons and snorkeling around them. Enjoyed the style of the area around Margot Bay.

Did you do any tours with tour companies, and what were their rates?

Exodus Boat Charters – very good one day boat tour from the hotel beach to the Pitons, waterfall and snorkeling. Was a brilliant day, the staff on the boat were fun and friendly. We paid 100 US Dollars each person. We could have gotten it cheaper I’m sure, but I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of saving just a few dollars.

How would you describe the food on the island?

Lovely, an interesting exotic mix of spices which makes the food taste amazing. I love my food and was not disappointed. I loved the stews but can’t remember what this was called. Also tried the meat goat which is not available in the U.K. It was nice.

Would you visit St. Lucia again, and would you recommend it to your friends and family?

I would 100% visit St Lucia again, it is a beautiful, interesting, exotic and cultured island. It has something for everyone, perfect for every type of holiday. I would definitely recommend it to couples and families.

  1. It appears that the 2 of you had a spectacular time. The pictures are amazing and the water looks breathtaking. I can agree with you on the rum! LOL. I also love stewed goat.

  2. It’s easy to tell how awesome the vacation was! I think it’s a great place for couples especially those who love adventure but also enjoy that laid back beach life.
