Whether you are just going on vacation or taking a year out to travel, there are an abundance of apps out there that can make your life easier. Everything from security, transport, and packing has an app to make it simpler. We’ve put together a list of our top 8 apps you will actually use when traveling abroad.
Before we get started, we want you to give our Facebook page a quick like and be sure to follow us on Instagram for some amazing inspiration.
Google Trips
If planning is your thing, then Google Trips app is perfect for you. It is considered the best mobile apps for travelers, It collates all the information from your Gmail or inbox and puts it all in one place. It can even map out your daily itinerary. Another great thing about this app is that it works completely offline, so no need to find a secure WiFi hotspot to access all your information.
Packpoint
Before you even leave for the airport you can start using your mobile apps. Packpoint creates an individual packing list for you. Just enter your destination, when you are leaving and for how long. You can even enter some other details such as activities you wish to do whilst there and it creates your perfect packing list. The list itself can also be tweaked after it’s been generated just in case you need to bring that extra dress, that you might have forgotten.
Hopper
This app is for the penny conscious when booking flights. What sets it apart from other flight booking apps is the fact that it can tell you what the best price is and when to book for maximum savings. When you’ve searched for a flight the app will let you know whether to wait or to buy your ticket. If it tells you to wait it will send you a notification as soon as the price drops.
AccuWeather
Make sure you’re never caught without your umbrella or sunscreen during your trip by downloading the AccuWeather app. With international forecasting from long-term predictions to minute-by-minute updates for your exact location, you will never run into any surprises from the local weather.
Rome2Rio
If you are planning on doing a lot of traveling between continents, finding out which bus routes to take or what connection you need to make your reservation on time can be tricky. That’s why we recommend the Rome2Rio app. With route information from over 4,800 transport operatives in over 158 countries, Rome2Rio has your back.
Google translate
Google translate is great for helping overcome any language barriers you may face. A great feature is an auto-translate option via your camera, whether you need to translate the menu at a local restaurant or read all the different signs at a subway it helps to roughly translate each word individually.
Eventbrite
If you’re looking for something fun or new to do, Eventbrite has you covered. With its GPS location settings, you can find events that are happening or upcoming near you and even purchase your tickets if need be straight from the app. It then keeps your e-ticket safe, sets reminders and gives you travel instructions to your chosen event.
Untappd
If you’re looking for a good pint whilst on your travels, Untappd is definitely an app you should have. Create your unique profile and let the app find you the best beer in town. If you prefer just one type of beer just search for it and the app finds which places stock your favorite beverage.
